The Witch

Radishes, carrots, cabbage,
bones and pig ears,
faraway peppers and cloves,
into the soup!

The witch concocts,
brews, simmers and stirs,
stands watch over,
the healing stew.

The child is cold,
wrapped in blankets.
His father paces,
outside the tent.

In the morning,
the child is well,
plays with a ball,
and the black cat.
